Lotto Wins & Spin Get the Party Started

Lotto Wins & Spin Get the Party Started

There may be a rugby cup final on tomorrow night, but for three winners around the country, they’ll be starting their celebrations early when they realise they’ve won a $666,667 share of Lotto First Division this evening – and our Winning Wheel spinner won the $1 million prize too, says NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

Due to a rare jackpot last weekend, there was a huge $2 million up for grabs with Lotto First Division this evening.

“While most of the country is focussed on the Webb Ellis Trophy right now, these lucky winners will feel like champions of the world after this windfall.

“Add a win for New Zealand tomorrow night, and this will be a weekend to remember forever for these winners,” says Mr McLeay.

The winning Lotto tickets were sold at Roselands Lotto in Papakura, Aramoho Mags & Lotto in Whanganui, and Mackenzie Lotto Plus in Twizel.

Powerball First Division has jackpotted tonight so will be worth an estimated $12.5 million next week.

Strike Four has also jackpotted and will be worth an estimated $300,000 next week.

Meanwhile, Sam Flipp from Foxton won a massive $1 million when his friend Ben spun Lotto’s Winning Wheel on his behalf in Wellington tonight.

The 22-year-old from Himitanga near Foxton has been in a wheelchair since he was eight years old, due to Friedreichs ataxia, a rare degenerative disease, so his good friend Ben spun the wheel for him.

Sam buys a Lotto ticket every week, on his usual visit to Palmerston North.

Sam loves playing X-Box, playing music, his body art, TV, movies and gardening, but the most important item on his wish-list is a trip to L.A and Vegas – flying First Class!

“Sam has been putting $20 away every week for his dream trip since he was 21, and now his dream is about to come true,” says mum Jeanette.

This is the first $1 million win on the Winning Wheel since September 2009.

Players win a luxury weekend for two in Wellington, with a shopping trip with a stylist to get a new outfit for the live Lotto draw.

Sam and Ben weren’t so keen on shopping with a stylist, so they bought All Black rugby shirts in honour of the final tomorrow night – even though Sam is not a huge rugby fan!

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto’s Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.

Tonight’s Winning Wheel was sold at A & L Freeman's Bookshop, Thorndon, Wellington. The serial number is 245-11163178-20xx.

Anyone who bought their ticket from the above winning store should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet.
