New Zealand Woman’s Weekly State of NZ Marriage Survey – in conjunction with Colmar Brunton
New Zealand’s best-read newsstand magazine New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and Colmar Brunton have joined forces to measure New Zealanders’ feelings on marriage in the inaugural State of New Zealand Marriage survey.
Conducted by Colmar Brunton during August 2011, the survey asked Kiwis aged 18-64 more than 30 questions about love, life and the state of their relationships. “New Zealand Woman’s Weekly knows New Zealand women, but we wanted to understand whether marriage was still important to them,” says Sarah Stuart, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly editor.
While some results were expected, such as women still being unhappy about the domestic chore split and making more compromises in relationships, the survey also revealed that 29% of New Zealanders have had an affair and 47% of couples would work through an affair and stay together.
“Marriage is still really important to New Zealanders with 85% of those surveyed imagining being in a relationship with the same person for the rest of their life.”
Men annoy women most through a lack of communication and not keeping them up to date with what they are doing, while women annoy men by not being loving or romantic enough.
New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and Colmar Brunton will conduct this survey on an annual basis to track New Zealanders and their relationships. The full results appear in this week’s New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, on sale from Saturday, September 17.
