'Hands around the Basin' Community Event
Opponents of NZTA's proposed Basin Reserve flyover are invited to gather at the Basin Reserve at 12 noon on Sunday 25 September to give the Basin a 'hug of protection' from the flyover. Join us for speakers, information and music and lend us your arms to give the Basin Reserve a big hug.
'Save the Basin' spokesperson Kent Duston says "the Government's plans will affect Wellington's green belt and access to eastern suburb sports facilities and will cost tax- and rate-payers $97 million to move traffic congestion 300 metres. It makes no economic sense and will result in the short-sighted destruction of the Basin as a sporting and cultural venue".
Come along and learn more about the innovative alternative to NZTA's plans, 'Option X' Speakers include Kent Duston, Labour M.P. Grant Robertson and Wellington Green candidate James Shaw.
