Following its recent reconfirmation in the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indexes, Fiat S.p.A. has also entered the Global 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) and Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) according to the report published by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
More than 400 companies were analyzed worldwide and Fiat was the only Italian company among the 23 companies admitted to both indexes.
The CDLI only includes those companies in the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (Global 500) that demonstrate the greatest transparency in disclosure to stakeholders of the strategies and actions taken to combat climate change. The CPLI, on the other hand, includes companies that have demonstrated the greatest commitment in reducing carbon emissions.
Fiat received a score of 93/100 for transparency in disclosure and the maximum score (“A”) for the commitment shown in reducing carbon emissions. Both scores represented a major improvement over the prior year and confirm the central role of reducing environmental impacts in Fiat’s overall business strategy.
CDP, which acts on behalf of 551 institutional investors holding US$71 trillion in assets, is an independent non-profit organization holding the world’s largest database of actions taken by companies to mitigate climate change. Approximately 3,000 organizations worldwide measure and disclose their carbon emissions, together with climate-related risks and opportunities, through the Carbon Disclosure Project.
