Recycle Your Craft Stash!
7 September 2011
Spring is finally here, so it is a great time to clean out those cupboards full of extra or unwanted items, and pass
them on to someone else. If you have fabric, yarn, or other craft items that you’re looking to recycle, there is a new
community craft group just waiting for you to donate your stash.
“We would like donations of anything craft related,” says Sally-Ann, a member of the group. “It doesn’t have to be
fancy, but we need fabric, cotton, quilting templates, knitting wool, anything and everything.”
The group plans on making quilts to sell, with the proceeds going towards fundraising efforts. They already have a
donated sewing machine.
“It is important for people to have something to do during the day. The craft group will be not only about teaching
sewing and practical skills, but supporting people to get together and build their self-esteem and sense of
achievement,” says Sally-Ann.
The craft group will be meeting from the middle of September at the Clubhouse in Newtown. It isn’t just for women, men
are more than welcome to join the weekly get-togethers.
If you have items that you would like to donate, you can drop them in at DCM and Sally-Ann will collect them, or you can
drop them directly at the Clubhouse, 168 Riddiford Street, Newtown.
