Police release names in Pukehina investigation
A scene examination is continuing at a Pukehina address where the bodies of two adults were found late yesterday afternoon.
Police secured the address last night, and ESR arrived at the scene this morning.
Police are now able to name the deceased as 43 year old Scott Crawford Meikle and 41 year old Gail Marie Almond, of Pukehina. It is confirmed that the pair were in a relationship.
The Bay of Plenty Police District Field Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Mark Loper, says that a scene examination is continuing at the property.
"ESR arrived at the property this morning to support Police with the scene examination. It is expected that the Police and ESR team will remain at the site until at least the end of Tuesday.
"The bodies of the deceased will be removed from the property late this afternoon and will be taken to Auckland for a post mortem to determine the cause of death. At this stage the post mortem is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning.
"Until the post mortem has been completed and we have received those results we will not be speculating on the possible cause of death, nor whether any weapons may have been involved," says Detective Inspector Loper.
He says 18 Police staff are currently working on the investigation.
