Epicurious features a special Farmers’ Market
A very special Sunday Farmers’ Market and the Hawke’s Bay Olive Festival are just two of the fun events which make up the Epicurious Festival.
Epicurious is part of the Real New Zealand Festival and is three days of fun and entertainment, which highlights the fantastic food, wine and entertainment which can be found in the region.
A special Farmers’ Market at the Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds will feature all the great food that you can find every week at the market along with a special twist.
Food Hawke’s Bay Manager Jane Libby says “a number of the growers who bring their produce to the market each Sunday are chefs in their own right. Some of those chefs are going to demonstrate how to create meals using the great produce found every Sunday at the market.”
“The Farmers’ Market is always a great place to take the whole family on Sunday morning and having the chefs prepare great dishes with locally grown produce is another reason to pay a visit” Jane Libby says.
The Hawke’s Bay Olive Festival is another must do during the Epicurious Festival. You will be able to taste the delicious olives and olive oil which is pressed in this region and attend workshops, which will help you discover many new uses for the oil. You will also have the opportunity to talk and learn from top chefs including Terry Lowe from Black Barn Bistro, Paolo Pancotti from Milk and Honey and celebrity chefs Dame Alison and Simon Holst.
Epicurious opens with the Living Legends country music concert on Friday September 23rd in the Hawke’s Bay Opera House theatre.
On Saturday the 24th the Olive Festival runs from 10am to 4pm at the Hawke’s Bay Racing Centre and is followed by a black tie dinner featuring the amazing musical talents of Peter Urlich in the Hawke’s Bay Opera House. The official Rugby Fan Zone in the Opera House Theatre will feature the match between the All Blacks and France on Saturday night.
On Sunday September 25th, the Farmers’ Market starts the day at the Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds, with Summer Sips to follow in the Opera House Plaza. Epicurious wraps up with international soprano Anna Leese in concert in the Opera House theatre.
