Scene examination at Strathmore house where woman was killed
Thorough scene examination underway at Strathmore house where a woman was fatally stabbed
A thorough scene examination is now underway at a Raukawa Street address in Strathmore, where the body of a woman was located earlier this afternoon.
Acting Wellington Area Commander Detective Inspector Stephen Vaughan says Police were called to the address at 11:30am this morning.
"The woman, believed to be aged in her 40s sadly died at the scene, after Police and Ambulance staff performed CPR. She had received multiple stab wounds to her body. At this stage, we believe this incident is family violence-related."
Detective Inspector Vaughan says a man is in Wellington Hospital's Intensive Care Unit in a serious condition, after receiving injuries during the incident.
"A scene examination will continue for several hours and Police will continue to speak with witnesses and neighbours to ascertain what has occurred."
The body of the deceased woman is yet to be formally identified. A post-mortem is likely to be carried out over the weekend.
