Man charged with Stokes Valley shopping centre stabbing yesterday morning
A 37 year old man will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court today charged in connection with a stabbing which occurred at the Stokes Valley shopping centre at about 9:15am yesterday morning.
An altercation took place between two males, known to each other, which resulted in one of them receiving stab wounds to his lower back.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper of the Lower Hutt CIB says, "The 36 year old victim's injuries were not life threatening but he did require medical attention."
As a result of the incident, a 37 year old male was arrested last night and will appear in Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
D/S/S Cooper says Police will continue to take positive steps in dealing with crimes of violence. These types of incidents are all too common and can end in tragic circumstances.
Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
