NZ Fashion Week is in full swing!
The week started off on a calm note Monday morning when a group of us warmed up the venue with a yoga class led by Denise from the Yoga Sanctuary and dressed by we’ar. We decided that the good energy of yoga, combined with clean carpets of the new venue was a good way to get us into the swing of the week. We also enjoyed the sweet smells of MOR products as their candles give off a super scent, and will be around the venue all week. NZFW has never smelt so good! Over the weekend Bullseye Marketing organized a huge team of volunteers who packed over 6000 goodie bags. The bags are sponsored by Resene and the products come from some top brands everywhere – it’s an EPIC job - one that thankfully NZFW doesn’t do itself!
We officially opened the event on Monday night with an exciting surprise party hosted by MAC. See our Facebook page for all details www.nzfashion week.com! Moet also hosted their VIP party starting an hour before the event and between the two events there was plenty of Moet, Kim Crawford wine, Sanpellegrino, Absolut cocktails, Red Bull and Zeffer cider consumed. We wrapped up the night with a delicious dinner at Kermadec.
Still on the topic of delicious food, every year NZFW is kept fed and watered by some amazing New Zealand fare. We like our guests to be able to snack while enjoying our beverages and of course the shows. Thanks to our food suppliers this year who will be treating us all to Regal King Salmon, wild pork and venison from Premium game, cheeses of distinction from Puhoi Valley Cheese, served with crackers from Griffins, wasabi paste from Pure Wasabi, pure-NZ Kaituna horipito and kawakawa from Great Taste NZ, baby paua from Paua Fresh, hangi and clam pies from Maori Earth Oven, Little Boys chorizo sausages from Ruby List and gourmet meats from Freedom farm, designer macaroons from J’aime les Macarons, olives from Nelson Olives, Grove artisan oils from avocado-oil.co.nz ... and saffron verjuice glaze from Marlborough Saffron Room.…..thank you all for getting behind the event. We love your support and Mint Kitchen knows how to make sure they are combined and presented in the most mouth-watering way. We would also like to thank Griffins for supplying the backstage crew and volunteers with a selection of sweet and salty treats. YUM!
NZFW has been running a photo competition for 5 years now and this year, our sixth, has seen even more entries than ever before. Will Seal is pulling together the crew and they are required to submit shots every day ranging from what the NZFW sponsors are doing to general atmosphere shots. Their main task is to jump into the photo pit during our public show, the Designer Selection Show, and create the vibe of a trade fashion show and of course give the models something to walk to. All of our past winners have gone on to become professional photographers and many worked for our NZFW stalwarts such as Michael Ng our official photographer, Steve King, our “vibe” photographer and Norrie who everyone knows around town for shooting the social scene. The judges will decide post NZFW who has won the grand prize of a Canon camera.
Red Bull and The Video Kiosk have teamed up to help us communicate via a kiosk where we can record videos and post them straight onto Facebook. An even better reason to join our FB and see what the people from the event are up to! Those posting videos also have the chance to win prizes, if you’re at the venue head to one of 4 kiosks around the venue to find out more. And keep an eye on NZFW via our Facebook and Twitter f or daily updates on the shows and all NZFW news:

At NZFW we don’t have just one official hair or makeup sponsor. This enables the designers to work with whichever team they wish. The one thing we don’t want to do is restrict the creative juices of our designers but we need to have some for the shows that we sponsor such as New Generation and Contemporary Salon, Designer Selection, and also this year the Merino Show and the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Show. Without Vada, KSSM, Servilles, Smashbox, KMS and MAC our shows wouldn’t come together so thanks to these teams for pulling it all together for us!
This year we have taken a very different approach to our exhibitions. Our exhibitors have placed all of their amazing products on display in exhibition show cases. Information on each exhibit has been loaded onto Toshiba Laptops sitting nearby. This means that visitors can take a look at some of the great products on display from our exhibitors at their own pace. This year we have some beautiful items from the Auckland Ring Company, NZ Mint Trelise Cooper and Boh Runga ranges, Miami Jewel, Diamond Galleria, Stray Kangaroo, Zoe & Morgan, Ph.D, Culet Jewellery, Casio, and Storm London, plus special KMS California and Sunday Shoe of the Week cases.
Enjoy the rest of the week and if you are feeling left out; please don’t forget to check out www.iticket.co.nz to see how you can get here, and our Facebook for all the shots of the shows!
