KiwiRail media release
Special rugby trains from Palmerston North to Wellington
Rugby fans struggling to find hassle free transport from Palmerston North to Wellington for the match games at
Wellington Stadium, can catch one of the special trains KiwiRail will have operating.
"KiwiRail is offering ticketholders who are going to see the All Blacks take on Canada or one of the quarter finals
matches a great way to get to and from the game," says KiwiRail's TranzScenic Manager Tom Evers-Swindell.
"Utilising the comfortable and stylish Capital Connection train, rugby fans can enjoy spacious seating in warm
comfortable carriages with large viewing windows and plenty of room to move around the train. They will also be able to
purchase light refreshments and beverages from the café carriage."
Ticket prices will range from $60 to $90 return for an adult and $39 to $59 for a child return. The train will stop at
Shannon, Levin and Otaki before arriving in Wellington in plenty of time for each game.
"The trains will also be a great way for fans who aren't attending the games to come and take part in the festivities in
Wellington.
"After the game, the train will be departing from Wellington and again stopping off in Otaki, Levin and Shannon before
arriving back into Palmerston North," says Mr Evers-Swindell
Bookings for the trains can be made on the KiwiRail website at www.tranzscenic.co.nz , by phoning 0800 TRAINS (0800 872 467) or contact Stephen Parsons House of Travel in Palmerston North.
