Funding available for arts projects in Hastings
The Hastings District Council is seeking applications from community organisations or individuals for funding from Creative Communities New Zealand.
The Creative Communities Scheme aims to increase participation across the range and diversity of arts available to communities around the Hastings District.
Those eligible for funding may be individuals or groups involved in arts, literature or music projects which will benefit the broader community. Community groups which could apply for assistance include young people, older people, Maori, Pacific and other cultural organizations.
Projects must have an arts, literature, or cultural focus, take place within the Hastings District and be of broad benefit to the district. Activities which could gain funding include exhibitions, arts-related promotional activities, materials for an arts event or seminars and workshops for local artists and arts groups. Dance that has an arts and culture focus and school-based projects that are outside of the school's normal activities may also be funded.
Fund administrator for the Hastings District Council Vicki Berkahn says “the judges are looking for quality projects, which have artistic merit and provide value to the whole community. The project must be well planned and budgeted.”
“Demand for funding from the Creative Communities Scheme is generally high and the average grant is usually less than $2,000.Time is running out to place an application for this round of funding and anyone involved in an organisation which could meet the criteria, is urged to act quickly ”
Applications for funding from the Creative Communities Scheme close on August 31st and more information on the eligibility and criteria is available on www.creativenz.govt.nz
