SPCA Cupcake Day to get Mayoral reception
Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown will get in the spirit of the SPCA’s annual Cupcake Day fundraiser by hosting afternoon tea at her office this Monday August 29 at 2.30pm with Wellington SPCA CEO Iain Torrance.
Mayor Wade-Brown and Mr Torrance will be joined by Wellington City Council staff who will be baking cupcakes to raise money for the SPCA.
Cupcake Day is an initiative for the SPCA that encourages people to bake cupcakes and then sell them, donating the proceeds to the SPCA.
“The SPCA provides such a valued service to the Wellington community and this is a wonderful initiative to raise awareness of their cause, draw attention to animal welfare and raise money for their organisation,” said Mayor Wade-Brown.
“Supporting one of my favourite charities and eating delicious homemade cupcakes – what a perfect combination,” she said.
Wellington SPCA CEO Iain Torrance said “The great thing about Cupcake Day is everyone can indulge themselves and know their money is going to a good cause.
“SPCAs around the country rely on the fantastic efforts of local communities to raise the money required to support abused and unwanted animals as we receive no direct funding from the government.”
Media are welcome to attend the afternoon tea, contact details below.
