Ice Skating Rink Set For City Centre
The sound of slender ice skating blades slicing across the ice will echo through Garden Place next month.
Hamilton City Council has partnered with Grassroots Trust, Waikato Security Services, Hamilton Waikato Tourism, Waipa District Council and Waikato District Council to bring an ice skating rink in the central city.
Garden Place Ice Rink will open on September 15, coinciding with the official opening of the refurbished city centre square.
Overseen by event company Douglas Webber Group, the ice rink is expected to be a key attraction for visitors to the central city during what will be some of the busiest weeks of the year.
Hamilton Mayor Julie Hardaker said: “The Garden Place Ice Rink will be a great asset for the city centre, and I’m confident it will enhance the family-friendly space Council aiming for with our refurbishment.”
The ice rink will be 15 metres x 35 metres, and open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm. Entry will be $20 for adults, and $15 for children 12 and under.
