Greater options for bus users

MEDIA RELEASE
Horizons Regional Council

Greater options for bus users

Transport to and from the airport is now more accessible for passengers in Palmerston North, Feilding and Bunnythorpe with the redirection of bus services down Airport Drive.

These route changes form one of several public transport initiatives implemented by Horizons Regional Council to increase accessibility and efficiency for users.

From September 5, all Palmerston North to Feilding services will travel via Airport Drive and Bunnythorpe. Public services to and from Palmerston North Girls' High and Palmerston North Boys' High will also travel the length of Campbell Road in Bunnythorpe.

Chair of Horizons Regional Council Passenger Transport Committee Vern Chettleburgh says the route changes will attract a greater number and variety of public transport users.

"We are constantly working towards finding better and safer alternatives for transport users throughout the region", he says.

"The inclusion of the Campbell Road route during those morning runs will really help school children and their parents, and provide more options for people travelling to and from Bunnythorpe."

The changes also offer an affordable alternative for those travelling to and from the airport.

"It's great news for people looking for more cost effective transportation. The new service provides an inexpensive, economical solution for everyone to enjoy," says Mr Chettleburgh.

To enable the continuation of an efficient public transport service, passengers are reminded that fare increases of up to 50 cents for Palmerston North's urban and Massey bus service, and Stage 1 fares on the Feilding service will also come into effect on September 5.
