Storm teaches a lesson: all-electric houses are a disaster
The recent snowstorm has caused unnecessary suffering from cold houses.
Government's new Clean Heat policy pays householders $800 to remove older wood burners in polluted airsheds.

Many heat pumps ice up on the outdoor condenser in freezing temperatures. They use extra electricity to thaw out, while
putting no heat at all into the home.
On these days, use your wood burner, or even a despised LPG heater. All homes should have emergency heating available.
A warm house is more important to people's health than the complete avoidance of occasional smoky atmosphere.
Grey Power calls on Government to change its Clean Heat policy. Government should recommend that householders using heat
pumps should keep their alternative heating devices to use if their condenser freezes up, or in emergencies.
