The inaugural “British High Commission –Air New Zealand “business journalism scholarship has been awarded to the Dominion Post’s Catherine Harris .

The scholarship will see Catherine go to London for 10 days to research and write stories for a New Zealand audience. The Financial Times has agreed to mentor her and allow her to work in their offices.

The British High Commissioner to New Zealand , Mrs Vicki Treadell says “I am delighted Catherine is the recipient of the scholarship . I liked her story ideas around the UK/NZ business relationship “warts and all”. I have no doubt they will inform and challenge thinking. “

Mike Tod, Air New Zealand GM Marketing and Communications said ,”Catherine will no doubt make the most of the opportunity and of course we’re pleased to be able to get her there to enjoy her time at one of the UK’s top publications.”

Interested applicants were asked to set out their proposals for stories on the New Zealand-British business relationship. They were judged by the High Commissioner to New Zealand Mrs Treadell.

Catherine Harris has worked in Wellington since 1996 for Radio New Zealand and the New Zealand Press Association before joining the Dominion Post .In 1999 she won the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists’ top prize , the Rongo award .
