CCC Media Advisory: Update 4.30pm Tuesday 16 August 2011
Council facilities
Christchurch City Council Sport and Recreation Centres, libraries and other community facilities were closed today except for the Council's Service Centres in Akaroa and Little River. The Council will continue to assess the situation and will advise when facilities are able to re-open.
Kerbside collection
Kerbside collection went ahead today in Akaroa.
Kerbside collection in the city is expected to start tomorrow morning, but is dependant on weather conditions overnight. Residents are advised to leave their wheelie bins at the kerbside and they will be collected as soon as possible. If bins have not been collected by next Monday, please contact the Council's Customer Call Centre on: 03 941 8999 or 0800 800 169.
Roads
Arterial roads are now clear of snow. Gebbies Pass and Dyers Pass Road are now open. However, this may change depending on weather conditions overnight.
Crews will be out tomorrow morning to continue to clear roads in residential areas, starting with those in the Port Hills.
An update will be issued at 7am tomorrow.
