Police name victim of fatal Lower Hutt assault
Police are now able to release the name of the man who died on Sunday afternoon, following an assault in Pomare on Saturday night.
He was 24 year old father of three Filipo Sipaia of Stokes Valley.
Police were notified of an assault which had occurred at around 9:00pm on Saturday night, on High Street, Pomare, between Taita Drive and Peck Street, where the deceased was involved in an altercation with a group of people.
Officer in charge of Lower Hutt CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Borrell says, "A post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday, the results of which are still pending."
"Our enquiries into Mr Sipaia's death are continuing and we again urge anyone with any information on Saturday night's fatal incident to come forward and speak to Police as soon as possible."
A male appeared yesterday in the Lower Hutt District Court in relation to this matter and is due to reappear on 30th of August 2011.
