Influential Queenslanders turn up the HEAT on Auckland
Internationally acclaimed architect, Shane Thompson, and Creative Industries Manager for the Queensland State
Government, Lindy Johnson, are in Auckland to discuss the successful HEAT programme that markets Australia’s design and
architecture talent to the world.
As the Auckland Council starts a new chapter in city planning and design, it is keener than ever to promote its creative
industries at home and abroad. It is looking to learn from Queensland’s approach to getting its designers and architects
firmly onto the world stage.
HEAT was launched by the Queensland government in 2009 and their architects are already collaborating on projects as far
afield as Singapore, the Middle East, China, the United States and Europe.
Shane Thompson and Lindy Johnson will discuss how HEAT worked in Queensland and how it could work here.
Where: Viaduct Events Centre (Auckland’s newest architecturally-designed building)
When: Thursday August 18 at 5 -7pm.
The event is hosted by AUCKLAND CONVERSATIONS which is a series of Auckland Council events where national and
international influencers discuss design, architecture, heritage, environmental sustainability and associated economic
issues from an Auckland region perspective.
This event is also sponsored by The Designers’ Institute of New Zealand.
