Extreme caution for Wellington Roads
Short description: Extreme caution for Wellington Roads
Full description:
Driving conditions across the Wellington District are extremely dangerous this morning and Police are warning drivers to take extra care when on the roads.
Sergeant Peter Theobald from the Police Central Communications Centre warns that icy and slippery road conditions are widespread, particularly early this morning with the freezing temperatures. "If you need to travel on the roads ensure you allow extra time to reach your destination safely, and be alert for icy conditions. Adjust your speed and following distances accordingly, and take note of any reduced speed limits throughout the region."
Sergeant Theobald says that black ice has been reported from Levin through to Manakau, and there has been a minor crash at the Tawa interchange due to the hazardous conditions. The Tawa crash has been cleared but the road conditions are still dangerous.
