The TelstraClear Challenge embraces Auckland’s elite road race!
TelstraClear Challenge event organizers, ClipOn NZ Limited is excited to announce their partnership with Cycling Auckland in the delivery of this year's Hudson Gavin Martin Auckland 1000 Road Race under the TelstraClear Challenge flagship.
The Hudson Gavin Martin Auckland 1000 will operate as the Challenge’s elite race, providing New Zealand’s top cyclists with an outstanding 110km course. The alignment of the two events creates a total cash purse of $4000, with Hudson Gavin Martin Auckland 1000’s traditional $1000 grand prize going to the first place finisher.
The Hudson Gavin Martin Auckland 1000 has traditionally been one of the city’s major road cycling event, and part of BikeNZ’s National Points Series (currently being redeveloped). In 2010, five-time winner of the National Road Championships and Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, Gordon McCauley, won the event.
December 11, 2011 will mark the inaugural riding of the TelstraClear Challenge, which has secured participants the opportunity to ride the exclusive Auckland Bridge and Northern Busway. The event aims to celebrate New Zealand’s cycling culture, with a wide variety of events for cyclists of all levels and interests.
Teaming the tradition of the elite Hudson Gavin Martin Auckland 1000 race with the remarkable course and sheer size and energy of the TelstraClear Challenge is sure to deliver a sensational road cycling race.
