50 year old Auckland man in critical condition following assault in Wellington
A 50 year old Auckland man is in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital with head injuries, following an assault in the central city in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Perry of the Wellington CIB says the victim was involved in an altercation with another man known to him, at an inner-city hotel around 3:30am yesterday morning.
"The victim has undergone surgery overnight and remains in a critical condition."
A 35 year old Auckland man is appearing in the Wellington District Court today charged with assault.
Police enquiries into this incident are continuing.
