Update from Christchurch Airport 1pm
Runways and aprons at Christchurch International Airport have now been cleared of snow and slush but more snow is forecast and conditions may change.
A number of domestic and international flights have managed to land or take off from Christchurch International Airport during breaks in the weather this morning.
One inbound international flight operated by Singapore Airlines had to be diverted to Auckland – but has now returned to Christchurch, landing a short time ago.
The airport remains OPEN but it is essential passengers check with their airlines before beginning their travel.
