YWCA helping young women become Cinderella for a night
With ball season kicking in, the YWCA of Greater Wellington are holding a pre-loved ‘Cinderella Sale’ on Saturday 20 August at TheNewDowse in Lower Hutt, from 11am to 3pm. A huge range of donated dresses will be available for purchase by high school and tertiary students with valid ID. Dresses are priced from $25 each and handbags from $10.
The YWCA has also asked for donations from local designers and dress stores to add to the sale stock. People can also have the opportunity to support a young woman on her big night by purchasing a ‘gift card’ which gifts a young woman the opportunity to select a dress and handbag from the dress stock that has been donated to the ‘Cinderella Sale’ and include a short inspirational message for her night.
The YWCA is still accepting donations of dresses and evening bags from workplaces or network groups. Volunteers can pick them up from your collection point or donors can drop them off at Level 3, 75 Ghuznee Street. Text 021 550497 to organise a collection.
