Man killed on West Auckland train track
A 21 year-old West Auckland man was killed last night after he was struck by a train passing through the Sunnyvale Railway Station in West Auckland.
Inspector Rod Fraser, Waitakere Area Tactical Response Manager, said the fatality happened a few minutes before midnight towards the end of the station platform in Henderson.
The line was closed for several hours until the scene was cleared by emergency services staff.
Next of kin have been advised but police are unable to release the man’s name at this stage.
“Train staff have been spoken to by police and they are naturally distressed by what has happened. Victim Support assistance is being offered to them.”
Police will complete their inquiries and the coroner advised.
