Scene examination underway at Arlington Apartments, Wellington
A scene examination is underway at the Arlington Apartments in Hopper Street, following a fire in an apartment and the discovery of a male's body last night.
Emergency services were called to the complex at 6:15pm, where a man in his 40's was found to be unconscious in the car park area. CPR was performed but the man died at the scene.
The Fire Service also extinguished a fire in an apartment simultaneously.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton, officer in charge of the Wellington CIB says Police and Fire Service investigators are currently conducting a scene examination today, to determine what has occurred.
"A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the deceased man's body today, however at this stage, his death is not believed to be suspicious. We will continue making enquires on behalf of the Coroner."
The body of the man is yet to be formally identified. Once this process is completed, next of kin will then be advised.
