17 year old charged in connection to Upper Hutt dairy robbery
A 17 year old male will appear in the Upper Hutt District Court today charged with assault and intent to rob following an incident last night.
Detective Sergeant Richard Orr of the Upper Hutt CIB says at around 7.30pm last night, a male wearing a disguise entered Akatarawa Road Dairy, carrying an axe.
"Once inside the dairy, it's alleged the offender demanded cash and was chased from the dairy by the owners, without obtaining any money."
Detective Sergeant Orr says Police then located a 17 year old man soon after and have charged him with assault and intent to rob.
"The dairy owners were left extremely shaken in what was a very frightening experience for them but have not suffered any physical injuries during the incident."
Richard Orr says, "We're keen to hear form anyone who may have witnessed this incident last night or seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Akatarawa Road Dairy.
