Paekakariki Hill Road reopened after incident earlier this evening
The Paekakariki Hill Road has reopened following an incident involving Police and Armed Offenders Squad members earlier this evening.
Kapiti Mana Area Commander Inspector John Spence says Police were called to an address about three kilometres from Pauatahanui around 5pm this evening, where there were serious concerns for a distressed man in his early 20's. He was in possession of a firearm.
"An extensive search of the address, surrounding bush area and adjacent farmland was conducted, however this man has not yet been located."
Police believe this person is more of a threat to himself than the public at this time.
Cordons in the area have now been lifted, and residents who may have left their homes are able to return.
Anyone with any information as to this man's whereabouts is urged to contact Police on 111.
