Buses replace trains this weekend due to rail network closure

Buses will replace all trains this weekend to allow major work on Auckland’s rail network, including the completion of work for Rugby World Cup 2011.

Train services will be affected from 8pm on Friday 12 August, with a progressive ramp-down of services until the full closure takes effect from approximately 10pm.

The entire network will also be closed to trains on Saturday and Sunday. Work being carried out includes the commissioning of a new crossover between tracks at Morningside Station. This will allow trains to leave from both platforms after games during Rugby World Cup 2011.

Replacement rail bus services will be provided and special timetables will be in place, including additional special rail bus services to the Warriors game on Saturday. For full details go to www.maxx.co.nz. Details will also be available at stations.

Passengers should be prepared for the potential of some delays on Monday morning as the rail network is reopened.
