63 year old man charged with assault

63 year old man charged with assault following early morning incident on Lambton Quay, Wellington
A 63 year old man has been arrested and charged with assault following an incident on Lambton Quay earlier this morning.
Police and Ambulance were called to the corner of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street just after 6:30am where a 44 year old man was found lying on the road.
Acting Senior Sergeant Mel Warren of Wellington Police says there was an altercation between the two men and the victim had hit his head on the road.
The victim was transported to Wellington Hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The 63 year old man will appear in the Wellington District Court on Friday charged with assault.
Police enquiries into the matter are continuing.
