Mr Popper’s Penguins Bring Snow To East Auckland’s Botany Town Centre
Aucklanders won’t need to leave the city to see the snow this winter, as Botany Town Centre will be carting 10 cubic
metres of the white powder for a weekend filled with winter festivities.
To celebrate the New Zealand film premiere of Mr Popper’s Penguins, the centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with an ice rink being assembled in Town Square.
Botany Town Centre has teamed up with Hoyts, Fox Studios, Paradice Ice Skating, Grabaseat and Kelly Tarlton’s to host
the Winter Festival on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August.
Paradice Ice Skating will be offering free skating for visitors wanting to have a whirl on the rink, while those who
prefer to leave it to the professionals can watch the ice hockey demonstrations and figure skaters. Visitors can also
take part in the snow-building competitions and meet the Kelly Tarlton’s penguin characters.
Botany Town Centre senior marketing manager Desiree Clark says, “We are excited to host the exclusive premiere of Mr Popper’s Penguins and bring our shoppers a winter wonderland that the whole family can enjoy.
“We look forward to seeing the outdoor rink assembled in the heart of Botany Town Centre and anticipate that this will
be a popular attraction for the young and young at heart who are keen to test their skating skills.”
The Mr Popper’s Penguins film premiere and red carpet roll-out will take place on Sunday 14 August at 2.30pm. Special celebrity guests will be
attending the exclusive premiere, with some great giveaways to be won and a live draw to announce the winner of a family
trip to Queenstown.
Mr Popper’s Penguins stars Jim Carrey in a family film about a wealthy New York businessman who inherits a waddle of penguins. The penguins
