Man killed at aircraft testing facility
Blenheim Police are investigating the death of a man in an industrial accident at Woodbourne Air Field this morning.
Police were called to the Safe Air aircraft engine testing facility shortly after 8am today where a 49 year-old aircraft engineer had been involved in an accident involving a jet engine.
Tasman Police Acting District Commander, Steve CALDWELL said emergency services performed CPR on the man but their attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Police are investigating this death on behalf of Coroner who will determine the cause of death in due course."
Police are also assisting an Occupational Safety and Health Investigation.
Inspector CALDWELL said the man's identify will not be released until such time as next of kin have been advised.
