Problems in Kaimai

Powerlines down, burning
Powerlines are down on State Highway 29 on the Kaimais near the woolshed and the Kaimai school. The powerlines are sparking and burning. One lane is closed as a result and traffic is building up.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Tanker broken down
Police advise there is a tanker broken down at the summit of the Kaimai ranges. It is not blocking the road anymore but is being worked on which creates a hazard. There is also fog and heavy rain in the area. Motorists should take extra care.
