Two men facing drugs charges in Hutt Valley operation
Two people have been arrested in an ongoing Police operation across the Hutt Valley to stamp out organised crime and drugs.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper of Lower Hutt CIB says Police across the Valley executed six search warrants yesterday, including two in Upper Hutt, one in Wainuiomata, one in Stokes Valley and two in Lower Hutt.
“What was of concern to us was the recovery of a 22 calibre air rifle at an Upper Hutt address. As we say often, firearms and drugs are a lethal cocktail.”
Two men were arrested, aged 22 and 49 years face charges including cultivation of cannabis and possession of cannabis for supply.
D/S/S Cooper says, “Police ran a similar operation across the Valley several weeks ago and will continue to target organised crime and drug activity over the coming weeks and months, in an effort to reduce the harm and destruction it causes to our communities.”
The two men arrested will be appearing in the Lower Hutt District Court on Tuesday 9 August.
Scott Cooper says anyone who has information they wish to share with Police can do so via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
