A conversation with a Nobel Prize winner over your early morning coffee this Friday?
The opportunity to share the wisdom of Elinor Ostrom, (2009 Economics Nobel Laureate) has mustered the will of a group
of public and private partners in Wellington’s CBD to stage a screening of her talk at Victoria University down into the
Left Bank in Cuba St.
Professor Elinor Ostrom, speaking on The Future of the Commons, will be beamed in to Cuba St at 8.30-10am on Friday,
thanks to the efforts of Citylink, The Wellington Company, Now Future, Wellington City Council and local production
house Storybox. This screening could be considered a pilot for video and seminars to be disseminated in the city, says
WCC digital strategy lead Philippa Bowron.
“The Future of the Commons seems to be an apt launch for this pilot,” Bowron says.
The Future of the Commons is part of the Dialogues with Tomorrow series, run by Now Future. Responses to her talk will
be lead by Maori business academic Aroha Mead and business journalist Rod Oram. The talk is supported by the Climate
Change Research Institute, Victoria University, the US Embassy and the Hikurangi Foundation.
This is a great way to start a Friday and to stimulate ideas in the street, says Sophie Jerram and Dugal McKinnon,
curators of the series. Those attending the talk in Cuba Street will be able to tweet questions to Professor Ostrom to
Now Future on the name Dialogueswith.
