Hamilton police hold fears for missing man's safety
Concerned about the safety of a man missing since early Saturday morning, Hamilton Police are appealing to the public
for sightings of him or information on his whereabouts.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton of the Hamilton CIB said 35-year-old Hamilton man, Nicholas John ATKINS, who is
known to friends and family as 'Tommy', was last seen early on Saturday morning.
"A truck driver, Mr ATKINS finished a freight run to Auckland late on Friday night and called into a service station on
Avalon Dr about 10.38pm to buy cigarettes.
"He's then gone back to his Smart Pl home in Fairview Downs that he shares with his partner and their two-year-old
child."
Mr Thornton said the couple had been joined by friends for drinks and these people left between 12.30-1.30am.
"A short time after they left Mr ATKINS told his partner he was going out and he hasn't been seen since.
Mr ATKINS was reported missing to Police on Sunday night and since that time Police staff have been carrying enquiries
with friends and relatives into likely places he may have gone while family members have been conducting searches and
carrying out a pamphlet drop.
"Given it's been four days since he was last seen and his phone or bank cards haven't been used Police hold concerns for
Mr ATKINS' safety and we ask that he makes contact either with us or his family to reassure us he is all right."
A male Caucasian, Mr ATKINS is described as being 165cm tall, of stocky build with dark black curly hair with stubble on
his face and a short goatee beard and a slight scar on his hairline above his right eye.
When last seen Mr ATKINS was wearing a bluey/grey hooded sweatshirt, blue or black jeans and steel capped dark brown
John Bull boots.
"We ask anyone who has been in contact with Mr ATKINS to contact the Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200 or alternatively,
