Finalists picked for the 2011 Roading Excellence Awards
Roading New Zealand today named the thirteen projects selected as finalists in the 2011 Roading Excellence Awards.
Winners of each category and the Supreme Award winner will be announced at an awards dinner to be held at Auckland’s
Langham Hotel on August 29.
Competition head judge Dr Robin Dunlop said the standard of entries continued to impress each year.
“As the industry evolves and the economic climate changes it is reassuring to see those involved in roading remain
committed to achieving excellence and to embracing innovative ideas and demonstrating real leadership.”
The finalists are divided across five categories:
• Z Energy Excellence Award for a Major Road Project
• New Zealand Roading Solutions Excellence Award for a Medium Road Project
• Winstone Aggregate Excellence Award for a Minor Road Project
• InfraTrain New Zealand Best Practice Award for People
• Hire Quip Best Practice Award for Procurement
Roading New Zealand chief executive Chris Olsen said the finalists showcased the qualities which the awards sought to
promote and the event provided a great opportunity for those at the forefront of the roading industry to gather and
exchange ideas.
“It allows those at the cutting-edge to provide leadership, showcasing their innovations inspiring others to provide the
best possible service – ensuring the long term sustainability of the roading industry.”
The Roading Excellence Awards are open to all organisations involved in the delivery of roading projects in New Zealand
and seek to promote leadership, excellence and best practice in the provision of land transport infrastructure.
