Exide consent application – make a submission
The public now has the opportunity to have their say about Exide Technologies’ application to renew consents needed to operate its Petone Lead-Acid Battery Recycling Plant.
Exide Technologies has applied to renew consents to discharge lead and other contaminants to air from the battery plant’s stacks and from fugitive sources [such as factory doors, minor gaps in roof or walls, or around vents]. Exide has applied for a consent term of 15 years.
Full details of Exide’s consent application and information about making a submission are at www.gw.govt.nz/exide-application.
People have until 4:30pm, 30 August to make submissions on the application. Submissions will be considered by a hearing panel later in the year alongside evidence from the applicant and recommendations from Greater Wellington.
