Christchurch Couple Celebrate Win with Curry
A Christchurch couple who bought a Lotto ticket online through mylotto.co.nz celebrated their $333,333 win not with champagne, but with a curry.
The retired couple, who wish to remain anonymous, has been living in a badly damaged house since the February earthquake.
“It’s been a stressful few months waiting to see what will happen with the house, so this win is a great relief for us, and will really help ease our retirement.
The couple has chosen to keep their win very quiet. “We wanted to celebrate our win, but rather than go out for a flash dinner we decided to get a nice Indian takeaway.
“We are still a bit stunned really. It was such a shock to watch the draw online on Saturday night and see all the numbers get circled in one line on our ticket. It really was a dream come true.”
Meanwhile, Powerball First Division has jackpotted and will be worth an estimated $18 million this weekend. Strike Four was also not struck, meaning it has jackpotted to an estimated $700,000.
