Dinner Out Justified After Lotto Syndicate Win
A Wellington work syndicate of eight collected their $333,333 share of this weekend’s Lotto First Division at the NZ Lotteries’ Wellington office yesterday – and will now have a reason to celebrate the dinner out they’d already planned, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.
“We’d planned on having a dinner out with some of the staff in a couple of weeks, so now we really have a good reason,” laughs one of the winners.
They haven’t really thought about what they’re going to buy with their winnings, although their kids have plenty ideas – and after realising she’d won, one of the winners had a strange thought.
“I was at Chaffers Market on Sunday, and thought that I could buy 40,000 broccolis if I really wanted!”
The syndicate of two years puts in $5 a week each, with its latest member being particularly happy to claim their share of the prize at NZ Lotteries offices.
“I just joined the syndicate two weeks ago, and now I’m $40,000 richer,” the very lucky winner says.
The syndicate plan to keep playing each week, and now have their eye on the $18 million up for grabs in this weekend’s Lotto Powerball draw.
“We’ll see you next week,” they said as they were leaving!
The two other Canterbury winners from Saturday’s draw are yet to claim.
