At about 0125 hrs on Monday 1st August 2011 a single car crash occurred on State Highway One, near Greta Valley, Hurunui
District.
The crashed vehicle was travelling south and had recently overtaken another vehicle. The driver appears to have lost
control of the car, crossed the centre line and rolled a number of times before coming to rest. The driver was the sole
occupant of the vehicle.
Police enquiries into the cause of crash are ongoing.
The driver who died has been identified as Mapu HEMA, age 68 years, of Christchurch.
