Cameron Bagrie to address Selwyn business sector
ANZ National Bank Chief Economist Cameron Bagrie will next week give the Selwyn business sector an overview of Selwyn
and New Zealand’s economic outlook, including earthquake recovery, agriculture and construction.
Mr Bagrie has been in his role since 2006 and has previously worked as National Bank Head of Market Economics and
Strategy and as an economist with the New Zealand Treasury. At Treasury, his role included advising governments and
ministers of finance on policy and macroeconomic issues.
Selwyn District Council Economic Development Manager Claire Bryant organised the event to give local businesses a good
snapshot of Selwyn’s situation within the national context.
“Having a speaker of this standing available has been a great drawcard. We’ve virtually filled our session already.
People are very keen to understand the big picture and Mr Bagrie will be able to provide that overall look at the
economy,” Ms Bryant says.
Rob Lawrence from the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce and Michaela Blacklock from Canterbury Development
Corporation will also talk at the session about the Canterbury Regional Partners Network and building local business
management capability.
The Selwyn Business event takes place at the Council’s Rolleston offices, 3pm on Tuesday 9 August and will conclude with
after five drinks.
