Top Auckland properties revealed
An extensive holiday home on a secluded waterfront property in the Bay of Islands, a renovation in Birkenhead and a state of the art brewery in East Tamaki have been named this year’s top Auckland properties, winning Supreme Awards in the Auckland Registered Master Builders PlaceMakers 2011 House of the Year and RMB Commercial Project Awards.
Lindesay Construction Limited took out the PlaceMakers Supreme Award for the House of the Year for its build of a nine bedroom, nine bathroom resort-like home on Russell Peninsula. The home also won the New Homes over $2 million category, the Gib Living® Award, the PlaceMakers Heart of the Home Kitchen Award and the PlaceMakers Bathroom Excellence Award.
T P Builders Limited was awarded the PlaceMakers Supreme Award for the Renovation of the Year, as well as the PlaceMakers Renovation Award over $500,000 category, for the transformation of a Birkenhead home with spectacular panoramic views.
The RMB Commercial Project of the Year went to Mainzeal Property and Construction for its development of the Project Century (Lion Nathan), entered in the Industrial and Infrastructure Project category.
Lindesay Construction Limited’s home impressed the competition’s judges who described it as a world class build.
“It’s a family home set up more like a resort, with numerous sporting amenities and the beach at their door step,” judges said.
“It was not a straightforward build; it required a lot of discipline and control over a lot of subcontractors. The builder’s expertise and craftsmanship has really shone through in what is a really superb job.”
T P Builders Limited also pleased the competitions judges.
“The builder has completely reconfigured the home using some very precise structural steelwork, which has created a large open plan living area that leads straight out to the pool area,” judges said.
“The joinery, windows and sliding doors were beautifully done. The workmanship was extremely good.”
The new build of Lion Breweries’ state of the art brewery in East Tamaki by Mainzeal Property and Construction “was a complex build and required a lot of organising and attention to detail”.
“The builders’ expertise and fit out coordination was handled really well,” judges said.
“It was a difficult project in terms of the pressure on time constraints, but the builder established an excellent relationship with the client to achieve the results they needed.”
The builders’ entries were recognised and celebrated by members of the Auckland Registered Master Builders Association and the local building industry at the Telstra Clear Function Centre in Manukau on Saturday 23 July.
There were 18 Gold Award winners from the Auckland Region, which will now be assessed alongside Gold Award winners from the other 13 regions of the competition to find the National Gold Reserve finalists announced in early September.
National category winners, PlaceMakers Supreme Awards for the Renovation of the Year and the House of the Year, and the RMB Commercial Project of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in November.
The Awards are made possible through the support of principal sponsor PlaceMakers, and supporting sponsors James Hardie, Gib Living®, Pink® Batts® Ultra® (Tasman Insulation), Nulook, and the Department of Building and Housing.
