Farmers back students for final blitz

Farmers back students for final blitz

If farmers can spare a few hours over this weekend, they are being asked to join the Student Volunteer Army’s final mission.

“The Student Volunteer Army (SVA) needs 200 volunteers and if we can add a few farmers, I know the students would be highly appreciative,” says John Hartnell, Federated Farmers earthquake spokesperson.

“This is the SVA’s final push to finish off the last few hundred properties. There are people still in need and I know the students would appreciate our help.

“In fact not just farmers but anyone who wants to make a difference. If you can bring a wheelbarrow and a shovel, all the better.

“If anyone wants to help, it’s as simple as getting down to the A+P Showgrounds between 9am and 12pm today and tomorrow.

“Volunteers should have their own transport, wear appropriate footwear, bring warm clothing and a packed lunch.

“Let’s all back the SVA,” Mr Hartnell concluded
