Council Welcomes Westown School Decision

New Plymouth District Council is welcoming the change in direction from the Ministry of Economic Development regarding the implementation of the Major Events Management Act (MEMA) during Rugby World Cup 2011.

“I’m glad to see that MED is now saying it’s OK for Westown School to run a fundraiser for car parking during Stadium Taranaki’s three Rugby World Cup 2011 matches,” says NPDC Manager Rugby World Cup Jenny Mills.

“It’s a pragmatic approach to take and one that the Council fully supports.”

NPDC is required to assist MED and RNZ2011 with MEMA as part of its hosting responsibilities for RWC 2011.
