Spare Time? Volunteer!
Wednesday 29 June
If you love books, and want to support your community, volunteering at the Downtown Community Ministry (DCM) Bookfair on 23-24 July is just the thing for you.
“Our Bookfair is a fun event, and not just for those that come along to purchase books. Our volunteers have a wonderful time, and really get into the spirit of the event and the cause behind it,” says Jennifer Stewart, communications and events coordinator at DCM.
Setting up begins at the TSB Bank Arena on Friday 22 July. DCM needs volunteers to assist us to set up tables, put the books out and have everything looking tidy in preparation for the next day.
On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July, we need people to help at the Bookfair itself. There are lots of different duties from running the tills, to packing and putting books back on tables, directing customers and handing out flyers.
Also, on Sunday 24, we need people to come along just as the Bookfair is finishes to pack everything back up again.
Jennifer says, “Our volunteers are what helps make our Bookfair so successful. We don’t ask that people are able to volunteer all weekend, just what time they can spare, whether this is a few hours, or a whole day, every little bit helps.”
If you would like to volunteer at the DCM Bookfair, please contact Jennifer on 04 3847699 or events@dcm.org.nz.
