New role in Australia for council planning manager

New role in Australia for council planning manager

ROTORUA 22.06.11: Rotorua District Council’s planning services manager, Tracey May, is leaving the council at the end of July to take up a new environmental services director role with a local authority in New South Wales.

Ms May said she was looking forward to taking on the new career challenge but would miss the highly professional team at the council in Rotorua where she has worked for eight years.

“However it‘s the right time for me to move on to something new as the new district plan that we’ve been working on for around five years is nearing completion and the planning functions of the council will remain in the hands of a very professional and committed team.

RDC chief executive Peter Guerin said Ms May’s departure would be a big loss for Rotorua as she was highly respected and had lifted the council’s planning performance to very high levels.

“Her achievements in the planning area are recognised by her peers here and around New Zealand. It’s no surprise that the Minister for the Environment last year singled out RDC’s environmental consent processing performance as amongst the best in the country, and that accolade is testament to the work of Tracey and the team she leads here at RDC.”

”Tracey leaves with our best wishes and our appreciation of her important contribution to this organisation and to the development of Rotorua.”
