adidas Auckland Marathon secures three more years of sponsorship
adidas has extended its sponsorship deal with the adidas Auckland Marathon for another three years, making it a decade-long commitment.
adidas become the naming sponsor of the Auckland Marathon, New Zealand’s premier running event, in 2004. It has now committed to supporting the adidas Auckland Marathon until 2014.
“We’re very proud to put our name to the adidas Auckland Marathon,” says adidas’ New Zealand country manager, David Huggett.
“It’s a perfect fit for adidas as running is one of our key areas of focus globally, and we pride ourselves on setting the standard for the particular needs of the sport.
adidas Auckland Marathon managing director Stephen Brown says the Auckland Marathon, which dates back to 1992, has gone from strength to strength during adidas’ period of sponsorship.
“adidas’ sponsorship has enabled us to expand the marathon and take it to a truly global stage. This year’s marathon field will be largest assembled in New Zealand for 17 years. The confidence of knowing that our valuable relationship with adidas will continue for the next three years will help us to plan ahead with certainty and continue to grow.”
This year’s adidas Auckland Marathon will be held on October 30 and will involve up to 15,500 runners. Half-marathon entries sold out in less than two weeks and the marathon field sold out in just over five weeks. There are no entry limits on the quarter marathon, the 5km and the kids marathon.
