Sport Wellington Announce Logan Brown Sponsorship

Sport Wellington Celebrates Volunteer Awareness Week With Announcement of Logan Brown as Principal Sponsor of the Volunteer and Coach of the Month Awards

This week, 19-25 June, is Volunteer Awareness Week and Sport Wellington wishes to acknowledge and celebrate the thousands of sporting volunteers who are the lifeblood of sport in the region. The theme of Volunteer Awareness Week 2011, “Volunteering – Every Minute Counts,” highlights that volunteers provide an invaluable contribution to our society and that every minute of their work counts.

Sport Wellington, one of 17 Regional Sports Trusts nationwide, promotes and supports sport in the greater Wellington region. Sport Wellington is committed to valuing volunteerism; we work with sport to foster, grow and advocate for the effective support of volunteers across the region.

Sport Wellington’s Sport Development Manager Kevin Wilson says “although the athletes are the ones who make the headlines it is the unpaid army of volunteers who coach, administer, referee, cook, clean and organise who are the real stars.”

Sport Wellington has ‘walked the talk’ regarding acknowledging and recognizing the valuable work volunteers do within the sporting sector and the community by offering community coach and community volunteer of the month awards for a number of years.

It is fitting therefore that in Volunteer Awareness Week 2011 Sport Wellington announces that Logan Brown restaurant has come on board as the principal sponsor of the awards.

Logan Brown is synonymous with excellence and service, values which align closely with the positive aspects of volunteering and coaching. Each month the winning coach and volunteer will receive a Logan Brown Bistro Lunch for two with wine tasting options.

Logan Brown Co-owner Steve Brown says “being in the hospitality business gives us some great opportunities to be part of our community and helping to thank the unsung heroes who keep clubs alive and well is a real pleasure for Logan Brown.”

Sport Wellington sees this as a fantastic opportunity for sport to recognize its volunteers and to gain valuable exposure for their sport within the community. We encourage all Wellington regional sports clubs and organizations to nominate their volunteers by downloading a nomination form at www.sportwellington.org.nz.
